Skimmer version isn't great

I purchased a set of regular and skimmer versions of these 19mm pipes for new SICCE 950 SDC filters on my large planted aquarium. The regular pipes are great! The skimmer version has a few problems - the pipe for the skimmer basket sits a little high so not a lot of room for evaporation. The most annoying thing is the skimmer basket is the same size as those designed for smaller pipes so it has a large gap (shrimp sucked in) and bangs around since it's too small.
